Schedule by calling: (843) 884-5161
To schedule, feel free to give us a call at (843) 884-5161 or send us an email at patientcare@shemcreek.dental. Our patient concierge team will find an appointment time that works with your schedule. Upon inquiry, will need to know your general availability, as well as your name, DOB, phone number and email address.
You can also message us on our website, shemcreek.dental, and let us know what you are looking to schedule whether it be a new patient appointment, hygiene appointment if you are an established patient, or an emergency appointment. If you message our website or email us, you can expect a response within the next 48 hours. If you have a dental emergency, it is best to give our office a call for a prompt response.
We accept all insurance companies. As a courtesy, we will file your insurance claim for you. Before your appointment, we will gather your insurance information such as the company it is through, your subscriber ID and group number. We then use this information to verify your eligibility and obtain a full detailed breakdown of your coverage information.
We will generate an estimate of your out of pocket (coinsurance) amount before each appointment, which is then communicated to you so you will have a clear idea of how much your insurance company will likely cover for the appointment. It typically takes 2-3 weeks for our office to receive an insurance payment after submission. Once this is applied to your account, we will reach back out if there is any remaining portion that you will be responsible for. Dental insurance may seem complicated. Our in-office insurance specialist will help ensure you are fully educated on your coverage, making this process stress free.
Our office offers an In-Office Membership Plan for patients who do not have dental insurance. For this plan, we will collect $499, which covers two cleanings, two exams, x-rays and fluoride. Most dental procedures will be discounted 15% off. This excludes elective cosmetic work, orthodontics, surgical guides and nitrous oxide. If interested, we are happy to discuss details.
Shem Creek Dental follows all the latest CDC guidelines regarding infection prevention. Our clinical staff wear masks and gloves for all dental procedures. All high-touch surfaces, exam rooms and common spaces are thoroughly disinfected between patients and at the end of each workday. Hand hygiene is also of the utmost importance to our staff. We want you to feel comfortable and confident that your care team is following every possible measure to keep you safe and healthy.
Of course, dental emergencies are never convenient nor timely. If you experience a dental emergency including pain, a chipped tooth, or any other concerns, please give our office a call at (843) 884-5161. We will do our best to get you in A.S.A.P. for Dr. Culler to assess the situation and determine a treatment plan. During this appointment, our clinical staff will take x-rays of the affected area and Dr. Culler will examine any subjective findings. Once a diagnosis is made, treatment coordinator will work with Dr. Culler to discuss your plan moving forward to provide education and answer any questions. Our scheduling team will then work to get your treatment appointment scheduled.
If you ever have a dental emergency outside of business hours, you can give our emergency line a call or text at (803) 243-3970. For urgent matters, arrangements can always be made to see you on a Friday, or over the weekend.
Shem Creek Dental is all about patient-centered care and creating a warm and inviting culture at our practice. When you walk through our doors, our friendly and positive staff will greet you with a warm welcome. If you have any concerns of previous anxiety during a dental appointment, we encourage you to let us know. During each appointment, you will be offered a pillow and cozy blanket. For treatment procedures with Dr. Culler, the operatory is equipped with a TV overhead containing every screening channel you can imagine. Or if you want to jam out to your favorite song, we welcome all song or channel requests on Spotify or Pandora.
Regarding pharmaceutical modalities, our patients have the option to use Nitrous Oxide during any dental appointment, which helps relax your body and mind. If anxiety is severe, discuss with Dr. Culler regarding the options for a prescription to help ease your worries.
If you have any other special needs or require special accommodation, please let us know. We will make any arrangements to keep you safe and comfortable while you are in our care.

Dr. Culler has been practicing dentistry since graduating from MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 2017. Since this time, he has additionally completed 100s of hours of continuing education to fine tune his practice and stay current with the latest technology and treatment methods. Our hygienist and assistants have each been practicing in their fields for over 7 years.
Our staff stay up to date with all their credentials, and regularly complete continuing education seminars to provide the best possible service to our patients.
Shem Creek Dental welcomes every member of your family to join our dental family. Dr. Culler will gladly see children of all ages. It is recommended that children start becoming established with dental cleanings when they turn 1 year old as their baby teeth begin to come in. We will start with a “happy visit” where our hygienist will simply sit the child in the chair (usually on mom or dad’s lap) and count their teeth. This is to familiarize them with the feeling of getting their teeth cleaned. As they become more comfortable and grow older, this helps tremendously with helping establish a fond association with going to the dentist. Looking forward to meeting your family!
