Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Creating your treatment plan starts with providing an accurate diagnosis.

Our practice utilizes state-of-the-art Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging to enhance diagnostics and treatment planning. This advanced technology provides detailed 3D images of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures, allowing us to deliver precise and effective care.

What is a CBCT?

This specialized imaging technique captures high-resolution 3D images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone. In one easy scan, the C-arm rotates 360 degrees around your head, capturing multiple images from different angles, providing a comprehensive view of your dental anatomy. This enables us to visualize complex structures and identify issues that may not be visible otherwise.

This provides Dr. Culler with a visual of potential areas of concern (whether symptomatic or not) to develop an accurate and well thought-out treatment plan.

What are some perks of this versus a conventional dental x-ray?

A CBCT scan provides enhanced accuracy by revealing more information than a conventional x-ray. This diagnostic aide provides a view of bone quality and quantity and soft tissues, thus allowing for more precise treatment planning. With these views, Dr. Culler is able to evaluate diseases of the jaw, teeth, bone structures of the face, nasal cavity and sinuses.

No preparation is necessary before the scan but ensure to remove any metal or jewelry, as this may interfere with imaging.

As with any x-ray, be sure to let your healthcare provider know if you think you might be pregnant.
